Green carpet, Dawson City, on the Haunted Stream, alpine Victoria, Australia. It’s hard to imagine that once a township of 3 000 people lived here. The lush ferns of this area are as beautiful as any of those in the Otway Ranges. The morning light filtering through the trees and the lush ferns contrasting against the trees trunks are simply stunning. January 2005.
Three thousand people, and this is all that is left. Shows that the environment is not at all fragile and is quite capable of regenerating over a relatively short time.
